Back and Fabulous!

Ok, So I haven’t written in…well, forever. I apologize.  But truth be told a LOT has been going on, and honestly, not too many big braces events.
Anniversary
But today, I am writing officially 1 month and 1 day into my braces journey (23 more months to go…ever the optimist).

So the quick catch up on all the good things happening.  The first and (by far my biggest happiness right now) is I am gainfully employed!!! I interviewed with braces and they still took me! I now work at a very prestigious university with benefits and an actual salary that allows me to eat all the non-sticky, non-crunchy, non-braces-breaking-food on a regular basis.

My life has been pretty good. I can honestly say I have been quite happy with life in general. As for my teeth, they haven’t been too bad but it is an adventure everyday as to which teeth hurt and how to bite.

Enough of the catch up – the thing I was most jazzed to write about is what happened last night.  Ladies and gentleman…I went to my class reunion.  And it was actually fun.  I got dressed up in my “sex and the city” best.  I had on the most killer sexy and sophisticated outfit and my new purple trench. I don’t mind saying – I looked hot and employed.  My class was small and so was the reunion which was nice.  I caught up with Sex and the Citya lot of people including my 7th grade crush N—.  Yea, Back-story – I marched up to N— and asked him out and he said no in front of everyone.  I may have slapped him. I may have ignored him for no less than 3 years after that.  But I so got over it and my 7th-grade-Stef was sort of a bitch and while I may be sometimes I am a generally more happy person that 7th-grade-Stef.  Anywho, we caught up and I was told (many times, I might add) that I was gorgeous and still am. And, did I know how good looking I was? (Hint: yes I do).  He also told me that he was intimidated by me back then and then proceeded to have a crush on me the rest of high school and regret now!!! Ok, maybe I am being petty, but my 7th-grade-Stef was so vindicated, even with braces.

The second cool thing was that one boy, (who, sad to say I didn’t recognize right away – give me a break, he grew 2 feet and got hot) REALLY liked me.  That’s right, totally hit on me.  It was great.  Ah, but the plot thickens.  He mentioned my braces!!!!! Ok, let’s recap.  We were joking around about when we were in middle school and such, and he was saying something like his 12 year old self blah blah blah, and then he said something like “but the braces add to the illusion” ::GASP!!!!:: for serious!?!?! So of course I remained poised and smiling (I find that faking confidence in the braces, even when cornered and embarrassed is helpful) and through some throw away giggles defended them with an “I had jaw surgery” (technically true, easier than describing the baby tooth jaw sawing saga).  He then got really embarrassed and told me that the braces didn’t take anything away from my “gorgeousness” (yea make that 5th gorgeous of the night, I kept a tally).
Tally
So, yes the braces were noticed  but they have not hindered me from looking and being awesome.  Which I got to tell you, made me feel very good about the braces and life.  Also, I am sort of being half-courted by this one boy right now, braces and all.

So, moral of the story: I am a fabulous gorgeous lady with a fantastic set of braces and my personality is Shining to boot.*

ab fab

*Not a mantra, I truly feel it. That’s nice for a change.
